DESCRIPTION OF THE PHANTOM
The phantom is constructed of proprietary tissue-equivalent materials that mimic reference tissues within 1% by linear attenuation for the dental x-ray and other dental imaging procedures.
The PIRATE phantom features detailed 3D anthropomorphic anatomy including bone, sinus, maxilla, mandible, mandibular nerve and teeth. The simulated bones contain both cortical and trabecular separation. The teeth include distinct dentine, enamel, root canal and crown. One tooth includes a fracture and a second tooth includes a cavity.

USE OF THE PHANTOM
The suggested use is a basic test protocol. The phantom should be scanned using the same x-ray technical factors as would be used on a patient. Each user of the phantom may find additional uses and CIRS urges to share findings with others when possible and appropriate.

The mandible may be used in a full closed position to a full open position and anywhere in between. The phantom jaw will open further than a normal jaw.

TRIPOD ASSEMBLY (CONT)
When the phantom is used on the tripod, you will have full rotation ability of the phantom and you may adjust the head angle as needed.
